The Most Fashionable Holiday Movies
the family stone
Best Dressed: Sybil Stone Played by Diane Keaton
A comedy-drama about a family that will do anything but embrace their oldest brother’s new uptight girlfriend, who he intends to propose to with a cherished family heirloom. Diane Keaton plays Sybil, the mother of the family of 5. Sybil has a Santa Fe chic air about her from her camel Christmas robe to her boho full skirts and wide cinched belts.
little women
Best Dressed: Amy March played by Florence Pugh
Little Women is based on a 2-part coming-of-age novel written in the 1860’s by Louisa May Alcott. In 2019, Greta Gerwig remade the movie with her own twists. From Gerwig’s adaptation, the most fashionable is, of course, Amy March. She is not everyone’s favorite character, but you can’t deny her periwinkle palettes and chic updos.
the holiday
Best Dressed: Amanda played by Cameron Diaz
A romantic-comedy made in 2006 that made the bob haircut hit an uptrend that Spring. Two women decide to switch apartments for Christmas and obviously find love in their new locations. Taking the LA style into England’s countryside never looked so good. Cameron Diaz does a pretty easy transition fashion-wise. Could be a good movie to pull some of those early 2000 trends out of our closets.
happiest season
Best Dressed: Abby played by Kristen Stewart
A new movie to Netflix, thank god! A classic rom-com story of a Christmas gone wrong when a woman decides to take her girlfriend home for Christmas. The fashion throughout doesn’t disappoint but the clear favorite is Kristen Stewart, who brings a laid back, cool city girl look to traditional Christmas dinner. I mean it has Dan Levy, what more can you need?
home alone
Best Dressed: Kate McCallister played by Catherine O’Hara
Mrs. McCallister brings that 90’s fashion to us in a cult Christmas classic. Her bold shoulders, beige color palette and short scarves don’t need much of an explanation. A low key, mom look that we could all strive for in 2021, it certainly works with the trends for next year.
